Original Music Showcase Report

Hey you music lovers! Here's a little round up of some music releases and goings on for the last couple months that have intersected with the Original Music showcase. In no particular order.


Eight Foot Manchild. Eight Foot Manchild. Eight Foot Manchild! Let that burn into your brain. do you like Stoner Doom music? Do you like horns rock? Hey you got horns on my stoner doom! Two great tastes that taste great together. No one is doing what these guys from Medford MA are doing and it rocks. You'll hear it on MSR! Listen on bandcamp 




Girl with A Hawk is an amazing group of Boston musicians featuring Linda Viens, Daniel Coughlin, Richard Lamphear, Lee Harrington and Nancy Delaney that has been releasing amazing music since 2021 I believe. Many heartfelt tunes, The Ones, Same Stars, the Romantic to name a few. I have heard a prerelease copy of their new song "Feel Me", an amazing tribute to Red on Red Records founder Justine Covualt. This song is absolutely amazing on many levels. Stylistically something of a departure and man what a trip that is. Song drops on 11/17. Get it on bandcamp! 



Crystal Canyon, amazing shoegaze from Portland Maine has been a Mark Skin Radio favorite for quite a while. The music is absolutely amazing. I am really psyched to be spinning their new release, "Stars and Distant Light". A great release top to bottom. Big thanks to Lynda Mandolyn & band for always keeping us in the loop on their new music. Pick up the new release on bandcamp!





The Mesos is a Scranton PA rock band I happened on a couple years ago and have been playing regularly ever since. every tune they have turned out is awesome. . Really psyched to be playing music from their new release quarter Past Broke. A great release. I also want to mention and thank the band for being such amazing supporters of Mark skin Radio. Go grab it on bandcamp! 



Cindy Lawson from Minneapolis, MN (Rum Bar Records) has released a song called "Don't Come Crying to Me". This may well be one of the best rock songs I have heard. Shear perfection and hookalicious to the core. Of course you'll hear it on Mark Skin Radio.

Friendship Commanders from Nashville, a very heavy duo of Buick Audra (songwriter/vocalist/guitarist) and husband Jerry Roe (vocals/drums) have just released a concept album called MASS. This album is driven by Buick's time and experiences in Massachusetts.


She is deeply connected to this area and I was honored to be at their Boston show. The album is amazing and I highly recommend the companion book. Thrilling read and album. Listen on bandcamp 




Linnea's Garden, Boston glam rockers are releasing an EP on 11/17. I have heard it all and am loving it. Each new release from them get more amazing. Of course you'll hear it on Mark Skin Radio. We want to thank them for dropping the pre-release single Comeback on us for early airplay. Wait til you hear the rest! Available 11/17 on bandcamp!



If you've been living in a cave you might have missed the fact that the Nervous Eaters are back. Adam Sherman has been a fantastic addition to the band. With an album out last year, they are back at it with a new single dropping this Friday (11/17) called Talkk. We have heard it and can only say. this tune is F'n awesome!




Thanksgiving is coming up. By the Sunday after I'm sure you'll be ready to go out and ditch the extended family :-) Well have I got a show for you! A monster lineup of original bands who will play their music and one tune from The White album to commemorate it's 55th year of release. New Band Alert - The Electric Aces

 Author: Adam Signore (01/29/23) I had the distinct pleasure to attend the debut performance of a new Central MA band called the Electric Aces.  The band is the brainchild of guitarist Chris Seremetis, who sought out players who could share his vision, collaborate and perform at a high level. Lizzie Leis, who I have had the pleasure seeing perform many times brings her thunder on vocals, Area veteran Dan Carter is pounding on bass. All three are veterans of the local cover band scene, Chris from ELEVEN, Lizzie from Project Alice, and Dan from Gloomy Sunday. All bands I have seen BTW. After a lengthy search for a new drummer, Nick Irvin was brought aboard. This is Nick's first band. While the band is very new, the players are not. The Electric Aces had their first rehearsal in late August 2022, and their first 3-song EP Powertrip was recorded in November at Jeff Instasi's studio (Six To One fame). 2022 Boston Music Awards

 Author: Adam Signore (1/28/2023) This past December, The Original Music Showcase on Mark Skin Radio was honored with a nomination for Best Podcast/Radio Show Of The Year at the Boston Music awards. It is absolutely thrilling to be recognized for the efforts this category represents and be included with such other great local shows.  The Boston Music Awards Nomination Committee is an absolutely enormous entity rumored to be made up of over 400 Boston music scene insiders. Musicians, promoters, Radio DJs and more. To end up as a nominee you really have to get known for your craft across a wide range of people. The BMA's have been around since 1987 and has annually recognized musicians in just about all genres, promoters, photographers, radio shows and this year saw the inclusion of Spoken word artists.  Part of the Boston Music Awards mission is to grow the community with shows throughout the year.
